When people want to quit smoking they want to do it as fast as possible. I don’t blame them for this, I was the same. When I was trying to quit smoking I just wanted some “overnight” way out. But unfortunately these never work.
First you need to have a plan of action, and know what you are going to do before you just go out and quit because you might just fail if you don’t do this right. This article will help to illustrate some of the important elements you should have as a person to quit smoking with ease.
A skill that you should try and take on board is Responsibility. If you’d like to quit smoking then you are going to need to take responsibility. You can’t blame anybody for for this addiction because you yourself created it. I am going to be a little hard on you so don’t take it to heart but I believe it’s your own fault. A part of success in any area is accepting and clearly pointing out your situation and problems and then working towards changing it until you have reached your goal.
So forget about blaming anyone but yourself, I have helped a lot of smokers quit and I always hear things like “I smoke because I am always stressed” (Smoking is proven to give you more stress so don’t buy into it) or “I smoke just to annoy all those self-righteous non smokers”. Be frank with yourself, are the excuses you are giving yourself logical because I’ll bet they are completely irrational. Make an effort to change this, simply take responsibility for for this addiction and work towards quitting.
Alignment. Another thing you need to get in your “quit smoking toolbox” is the ability to align with other people who trying to quit get help from those who have successfully quit smoking. This is one of the best things you can do, because you’ll all be able to help one another and you’ll even make friends along the way!
How do I do this though, you say?? Easy all you’ll have to do is align with others, you might even know of some in you’re area already. And if you don’t know anyone just look online! There are many forums everywhere on the internet and I think those forums have been responsible for helping thousands or even tens of thousands of people quit. So check one out!
OK so what are you waiting for? Quit already! Use the advice I gave you, set a logical quit date and stick to that quit date. Smoker’s golden rule: Do it now or you never will.
